Ha...nothing like a trip to Brokeback to set you straight. A cattle prod makes a nice gift for children.

I agree that law enforcement should have the authority to use force when necessary; I just think they go overboard in situations that don't call for anything more than a bit of man-handling.

Chasing somebody around would get my blood up too, but that's why I couldn’t be a cop. Well that and because I'd be open to bribes and kickbacks.

Yep, the yard has been fed, watered, and scalped. So far, so good, but spring can cause over confidence. The real test will be during the dog days of summer.

Greg, I couldn't agree with you more. Rather than the police taking justice into their own hands, they should just apprehend the suspect and then let the courts send him or her on a cattle drive at brokeback mountain.

Either that or just use a cattle prod or a taser.

Seriously, I think law enforcement should have the authority to use force when necessary and to the extent necessary...but, they shouldn't be allowed to abuse it. The problem is who is going to always be watching over their shoulder at every arrest? I've always heard that one of the problems too is that as an example during a high speed chase, once they apprehend the person, the officers are:

1. raging on adrenalin
2. pissed that the person made the officer put themselves in harms way in order to apprehend the person.

Not saying that is an excuse, just saying that I think that is what leads to the abusive behavior sometimes. Law enforcement candidates are supposed to undergo psychological evaluation before being admitted. But, who is doing the screening?

I think you probably have a lot of the same type of people joining the military too. Gung ho!

Hey, did you scalp your yard yet and put down your weed & feed? ;)
