Peter Jennings was a good guy. However, this makes me think of how I internally rank the evening news broadcasts. I never watched Jennings because, for a while, something seemed cheesy about the set of his broadcasts. Likewise, how could you take Ted Koppel seriously, when all you REALLY want to do is stare at his toupee?

Dan Rather went down like a fool, which will keep me from watching CBS for a while.

What I'm really trying to say is that I wish that somebody would just go ahead and bring Jon Stewart to their nightly news and say 'screw it' to the tech gimmicks and made up stories that they present in an attempt to be interesting, first to the scene, and entertaining. If I want a flyby of global satellite images, I'll get GoogleEarth, not watch the news.

He was an icon, and the last of his kind. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

jennings was one of the very few people who I actually recognized by name and face as a news anchor. I was in shock also when I first heard the news. I thought he just retired.
