Don't get me wrong, he still bungled plenty of stuff in a conservative agenda sort of way, but he was considered a moderate. The Austin American Statesman remarked a few weeks ago that they wished Governor Bush could have a long talk with President Bush. You know, one of the interesting things about Bush is that he was mainstream and centrist in many ways as governor of Texas.
