When the Bushwhacking ends…

Over at the John Kerry site they have been discussing things that will change when George W. Bush is forced into early retirement. I thought KJ’s list was particularly good:

“Integrity; Compassion; Open government; A respect for the world we live in, the ground, water and air we all depend on; A respect for the people of the world, their lives, their beliefs, their chosen governments; A true separation of church and state; Reason; Cooperation; Intelligent choices; Women’s right to choice; Privacy; Civil liberties; A dialogue with those who disagree with us, whether they’re another country or another political party; the list goes on. And, instead of “importing” democracy, we’ll exemplify it.”

While it’s unlikely that any president (or politician) will live up to such high ideals, it would be difficult for anyone to fail as completely as the Bush administration.

These are positive thoughts during a week that finds the Bush smear team doing everything possible to use Kerry’s post-war politics to discredit his service, while Dick comes out of hiding just long enough to fight the disclosure of his secret energy group.

Outlandish plot and bad dialogue. Life imitates art.
